Art Portfolio

I discovered a love for sculpture in college, exploring woodworking, welding, and lost wax bronze casting. But these mediums require materials and equipment I don’t have handy. And I never considered myself a good painter or drawer. Making art slipped out of my life.

I picked up sewing as a creative outlet, and have been sewing garments and costumes for over a decade. But it was only a few years ago when I took the leap to meld my sewing skills with my creative art background. Free hand machine embroidery gave me the tools for adding textures and fine details on top of dyes and paint. It proves to be a great medium for capturing the subtle colors of the prairie landscape.

I start by dyeing fabric with alcohol inks or painting it with acrylic. Then, I layer fabric and stitch in the details with my sewing machine, with a few hand-stitches thrown in. Some of the pieces below are for sale. I am also happy to take commissions.
